Landscaping Project 2004 The idea was to enhance the side and
back of the house where only sporadic planting of
olive trees and a few fruit trees break up the
bare land. As it was on a slope, we wanted
something that would add interest, provide
privacy screening, reflect our diverse ideas of
style and reflect our unwillingess to spend hours
each day maintaining a garden.
The basic theme of the
garden was to create a Japanese/New Zealand
fusion based around a river bed. What does that
mean in plain English? Well, we like the look of
Japanese gardens with their peaceful views,
naturalistic look but would rather use as many NZ
native plants as possible.
Lacking a real river the
concept provides us with the look of a riverbed
without the hassle of supplying the water. A
still water feature is designed to be part of
decking at the top of the garden on a level with
the house.
